Farmers Market Subscription Boxes Information
what is a farmers market subscription box?

A farmers market subscription box is an assortment of the freshest products we can find, curated each week based on season, quality, and value of items available from our farming and vending partners! The content changes each week. We will let you know a few days before delivery what is in each farmers market box.

Can i order more than one farmers market subscription box?

Yes, we encourage you to order as many boxes as you like. Please note, these order are recurring on the frequency you have selected. You can order only one farmers market subscription box of the same type.

Can I customize my box?

Yes, you can create a do-not-send list as a note at the time of your subscription. You are also welcome to mix and match any of the available boxes. We regularly rotate items in the boxes, so if you find some items you do not like, please let us know.

How should i store food to keep it lasting longer?

Here’s some general rules:

  1. If your produce spoils after just a few days, you might be storing incompatible fruits and veggies together. Those that give off high levels of ethylene gas—a ripening agent—will speed the decay of ethylene-sensitive foods. Keep the two separated.

    2. Never refrigerate potatoes, onions, winter squash or garlic. Keep them in a cool, dark, dry cabinet, and they can last up to a month or more. But separate them so their flavours and smells don’t transfer.

    3. With the exception of leafy greens, fresh fruits and vegetables should not be washed before storing. Washing will hasten deterioration of the produce. It is best to wash produce just before preparation or eating.

    4. Refrigerate fruits and vegetables in perforated plastic bags to help maintain moisture yet provide air flow. You can use a knife to make several small holes in a food-grade plastic bag. Otherwise there are many reusable storage solutions designed specifically for fruit and vegetable refridgeration.

Where does your food come from?

We source our food solely from farmers and vendors at Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market. All produce is fresh-picked for that market day and delivered to you on that same day. We guarantee the freshness of the products. You can find a list of our farmers and vendors on the website.

is everything certified organic?

Most of the produce is either certified organic / biodynamic or farmed in accordance with organic principals. All farmers are verified by Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market staff.

how do i know what is in the box?

A sample of items is listed for each box on the website. Once orders begin, you will receive an email with a list of what is in each box for the week.

there is a product that i love that is not included in the Farmers market box. can you help?

We love to hear your feedback and suggestions. We rotate a portion of the market box items to give you a chance to try something new each time. We would be more than happy to include your favourite items on rotation.

Ordering and Payment
how do i sign up for a farmers market box?

Select the farmers market boxes you wish to order. During the checkout, you will be asked to sign up for an account. An account will be created for you. The process is simple with no extra steps necessary.

do i have to commit to the full season?

When you subscribe to market boxes, you are automatically put on the schedule for the season 22 weeks). You have an option to pause your subscription for 2 weeks should you be away. If you find things have changed for you, you can cancel with 7 business day notice.

 

when do i get first order?

The deliveries begin mid-June. We will send you an email prior to first delivery date.  If you order later, you deliveries will start on the next cycle for the market box you have chosen. You will be notified few days prior to your delivery date.

I'll be away for a week or two. What should i do?

No worries, you can skip 1-2 weeks. Just send an email to order@tofoodmarket.ca with your full name, address and dates when you wish to skip your deliveries. We will adjust your schedule.

how many farmers market boxes can i add?

You can add one of each market boxes available. Once you have added the market box, recurring order will be created till the end of the season. You do not need to worry about again.

when do i get billed?

We charge your credit card every 4 weeks on a Monday. You’ll get an email immediately confirming the charge you and listing all the market boxes in your subscription.

how do i pay?

We welcome Mastercard and Visa. The credits cards are stored for recurring payments.

how do i update my payment information?

In My Account – click “Addresses”. You can update both shipping and billing address here.

Delivery and Order Receiving
is there a delivery fee?

We charge a small fee of $4.50 to deliver to your door.

what time do you deliver?

We typically deliver between 11 AM and 3 PM on Saturdays.  However, we cannot absolutely guarantee delivery within that window (sorry!) as traffic, weather and other factors can sometimes create unforeseen changes to the delivery schedule. You can generally count on receiving your delivery at the same time each week, but delivery routes are subject to change from time-to-time. 

Can i put my delivery on hold?

You can skip anywhere from 1-2 weeks by sending us an email to order@tofoodmarket.ca with your name, address and the dates for the weeks you would like to skip. We will adjust your schedule.

Can i pick up my order?

Absolutely, you can pick up your market box(s) at the market between 10 – 11:30 am. 

do you deliver to apartments and condos?

We actually have several options when it comes to delivering to apartment/condo buildings, so hopefully we can find a strategy which works for you!

  • If you are able to remotely buzz the driver in, that’s obviously the easiest solution. If you’re not home at the time of delivery, leave your cooler in in the lobby or with a concierge.
  • Many customers are able to provide us with an extra key to the building, so we can let ourselves in and then leave your cooler in front of your apartment door.
  • If you have a concierge or building security, or a willing landlord or neighbour on the premise, you can leave your cooler with them.
  • If none of the above options work for you just give us a call or email and we’ll do our best to problem solve. We can be flexible!
What if I am not home when you deliver - house?

If you are unable to be home at the time of delivery, you can leave a cooler by your door and we will transfer your order there. Your order will be delivered to your front door unless you provide us instructions for an alternative area of your home that we have access to (i.e. a side door, a garage).

what if i am not home for tHe delivery - Apartment/condo?

If you’re not home at the time of delivery, you can do one of the following:

  • Leave your cooler in the lobby or a location accessible from  the lobby.
  • If we have an extra key to the building and we can let ourselves in, then leave your cooler in front of your apartment door.
  • If you have a concierge or building security, or a willing landlord or neighbour on the premise, you can leave your cooler with them.
  • If none of the above options work for you just send us an email order@tofoodmarket.ca and we’ll do our best to problem solve. We can be flexible!

I have moved. How can i change MY address?

Go to “My Account” from menu in top right corner. You will be given page with options on the right-hand side. Click “Addresses”. Here you can change change both your shipping and billing address.

In My Account – click “Addresses”. You can update both shipping and billing address here.

how do i find "my account" section?

Click on the menu bar on the top right of the page after logging-in. You should see “My Account” as one of the first options in the drop-down menu.
